KMC was founded as Kreuter Manufacturing Company nearly 30 years ago to design and produce a line of damper actuators, pneumatic-electric switches and logic relays for HVAC applications. This original product line offering was marketed through an exclusive private label contract with an established control company and set the stage for greater things to come.

As initial contracts expired, the KMC product line was expanded to include variable air volume (VAV) controllers and actuators and soon KMC became the leading private label supplier to some of the world's leading control manufacturers. In 1996, KMC marketing products internationally through Temperature Control Wholesalers, Authorized Installing Contractors, and OEMs. This change signaled a new era of growth and expansion of capabilities at KMC.
